Multicultural Aged Care is a unique organisation funded as SA’s Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) since 1997, providing leadership in advocating for the needs of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) older people on the national and state level agenda.

  • Cultural training informed by the principles of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and the Aged Care Diversity Framework delivered to residential, community, consumers, families and students
  • Qualified cultural trainers with international accreditation as “Cultural Detectives ®” specialising in CALD professional education
  • Training focused on best practice models and practical tools & strategies to achieve equitable services and quality of life for the community, residents, peak bodies, organisations, workforce, and students
  • Culture in Ageing (CiA) Workshops – targeted to Lifestyle Coordinators and Diversional Therapists, this full-day workshop includes sessions on significant themes in various cultural contexts, expectations and how they evolve through generations, celebrations, reminiscence theory, the magic of sensory stimulation, the art of narrative, fun and fact-filled activities and much more
  • Armchair travel – targeted to residents (and community). This is an opportunity to immerse oneself in a day within different cultures through visual, aural, oral, taste and smell
  • Symposium – this symposium is designed to provide a hands-on approach to learning about cultural diversity in ageing. A day filled with diverse speakers from the community, generalist and CALD service providers, and researchers who share their stories, strategies, and tools to implement core principles of cultural diversity in the workplace, business, and everyday life. Achieving best practice strategies to help facilitate quality of life for our consumers, residents and workforce.
