For Service Providers
Multicultural Aged Care (MAC) is a peak body for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) ageing, aged, and community care. We provide leadership by bringing and keeping the needs of CALD older people on the national agenda. MAC receives funding from the Australian Government for the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) and Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).
Sector Support – (CHSP SSD)
MAC facilitates the sharing of information within the sector and, leads sector development discussions. Its sector support work provides, assistance and support to CALD Service Providers in Aged Care. MAC has continuously engaged and collaborated with key stakeholders in aged care such as the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care, Aged and Community Care Providers Association Ltd (ACCPA), SA Collaborative Projects, Community of Practice (CHSP), Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission etc.
Resource Development – (CHSP & PICAC)
MAC also plays an important role in the creation and development of national resources and has represented the CALD ‘voice’ on various national working groups. We also have a wide variety of digital and online resources that can be accessed on our website and our social media pages. Some of MAC’s resources include specialised cultural knowledge and expertise in supporting older people from CALD backgrounds.
Training, Education and Information – (PICAC)
MAC’s professional expertise is in delivering training to the workforce in residential facilities, community care and on-demand requests. The trainings are informed by the principles of Cultural Intelligence (CQ), the Diversity Framework and encompass Cultural Awareness, Competency and Safety.
